One Little Mosquito Bite

It's mosquito season. So of course we expect a few bites here and there. We didn't expect that Desi would swell up at every bite. Especially not around her eyes. Here's the worse bite from June 13th. Thank goodness the Dr said that it was just the swelling from the bite, but you can imagine how we were when we woke up and saw these sites!

Desi Walked!

After a follow up visit by Anabel, Desi's physical therapist, yesterday, we started to push Desi to walk a little more. Anabel was surprised Desi wasn't walking yet. Her evaluation confirmed that Desi was performing all her tasks at a 14 month old level except for walking. She showed us how to push Desi a little bit and get her excited about walking. So last night and today we practiced. We held Desi's clothes instead of her fingers, we got very excited when she would walk with us holding her clothes, we bribed her with some chocolate... It must have worked because this evening around 8pm at Nana and GungGung's house Desi started to take a step in between letting go of one piece of furniture and holding on to the other piece. After about 3 of these little "tests", Desi stood up in the middle of the living room and WALKED to the tv. It was about 5 or 6 steps. Nana, GungGung, Uncle Kieran, and I were all there to witness it. Poor Daddy was working and missed it. Unfortunately, there was no repeat performance and then tiredness took over. Now my little angel is resting those little feet. I can't wait to see what she does tomorrow!!!! :O

Our First Night Apart

Let's start with this: We survived! :) Colin and I went to stay the night at Rod's house in the Keys for my work group outing this weekend. It was my first night away from Desi. She was in good hands with Nana, GungGung, Kieran, Anjuli, Nikki, and others at the Casey house. We both made it through the night (and so did Nana and GungGung). Colin and I enjoyed our little trip.

Swim Classes

Desi started parent and me swim classes today. She is a fast study! Here we are swimming.

Actually, mommy is the one who needed the lessons. After the instructor taught me not to hesitate when I dunk Desi (which allowed Desi to take two breaths as she's going into the water and gives her time to suck down a gallon of water), there was no more choking and Desi was all smiles.

Here's Desi coming up from a "fall" into the water.

The sing humpty dumpty sat on a wall, humpty dumpty had a great fall!

In addition to "falling" into the pool and turning and swimming to the wall, we practiced "walking" along the edge, floating on our backs, and sliding down the slide into the water. We had a great time! It's daddy's turn next week. :)
