Chinese New Years Festival

On February 8, 2009, the new generation was introduced to the Chinese New Year Festival. The Casey family has been running the drink booths for the Chinese Cultural Association for years. This year, it was just a bigger family affair.

We have to start the morning off right with some serious sugar!
We got the girls set up in the "playpen".
The festival in full swing.
Everyone is wearing their Chinese outfits.
The traditional Dragon Dance.

February 2009

Wow... February has gotten away from me. Things have been good on the home front. Mary, the new live-in nanny, has been working out well. She had Desi are now physically attached I think. Desi continues to grow and learn and amaze us each day. Here are a few pictures of Desi hanging around and eating (her new favorite thing to do) during February.

I know this is wrong, but it was cold and we had to make due!

See, she's still happy!

Out for lunch at Rodbenders. Yes, that's a straw she's chewing on. When in Rome...

Yummy!

Climbing

I still don't have all the good videos uploaded, so here is a still pic of my girl on the move.

Lian White Came for a Visit (early February 2009)

Pat and Denis Chung brought their granddaughter, Lian White, over to visit Desi a couple weeks ago. Lian is a week younger than Desi.

Here are the proud grandmas showing off the girls.

Getting to know each other.

Desi liked her! :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Teeth!

Desi finally got a tooth a couple weeks ago- right before she turned 8 months old. Wow, 7 months was a world wind of activity for Desi. Here's a few recent pictures. See if you can spot the tooth!

Ms. Mary thought Desi's hands were cold! Auntie Charmaine got her these cute gloves.

Oh where oh where did January go?

Gung Hee Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year! We had a great family dinner on Friday to celebrate the year of the Ox.

I can't believe January is almost over. I had high blog hopes for the new year, but alas life gets in the way! And technology. One of the problems is that I've been taking more video of Desi than pictures and I still haven't figured out (well I actually haven't even tried yet) to download the videos to the computer and upload them to the blog.

Desi's been unbelievable active during month 7. She's mastered getting into a sitting position, she's mastered pulling herself up into a standing position, she's mastered the creep and has started crawling, she's talking (blabbing) like crazy and she's finally getting a tooth! All in one month! Babies are amazing! I actually have great video of most of these milestones, but again, technology is to blame (and of course our busy lives).

Another big change during January was that we got a new nanny for Desi. It started out rocky with one nanny just not showing up and disappearing off the face of the earth. We then found a great daycare, but I don't think I was ready for that. Thankfully, we found Mary and now Mary is living with us and helping us take care of Desi. So good, so far!

February is a new month. We are looking forward to the Chinese New Years Festival and more grand things from Desi. And I hope to capture all the great times on film (or a hard drive). : ) Best wishes to all!

Desi's First Christmas

Merry Christmas! Desi had a great first Christmas. At almost 7 months old she was able to enjoy opening presents just enough to make it fun. We had a wonderful day with family and friends.

Desi on Christmas Eve getting a feel for things...

Learning how to open things with her teeth!

Finally, the big day.
Kiana and Kayla were on hand to help Desi with her presents.
A family shot.
