More Trick or Treat
Some more pictures of halloween 2009.
Yes, that's me giving Desi MORE candy.
Aren't they cute?
Nana and the girls.
Trick or Treat
The gal cousins together again. Desi refused to put on her custome!
Finally, mommy chased her down and got it on. I think she agreed because we just kept giving her all the candy she wanted. Didn't seem like a big deal at the time. Hey, it was halloween. Heh, didn't someone tell me that kids and sugar don't mix at bedtime?!The first official trick or treat!
Getting Ready for Halloween
Family visit to the pumpkin patch.
Dada trying on his costume.
Dada "carving" the pumpkin. What's wrong with a knife?!
Mama and Desi playing with the pumpkin.

Oh no the FLU!
Desi and I have had the flu for the past week. Lucky for us we caught Desi's early enough and got her Tamiflu, so she's been doing really well.
Here's a cute picture of Desi swimming. We missed swim class this weekend, but hope to be there on Sunday!

Pee Pee in the Potty
I know it's a little early at 16 months to start potty training, but we bought Desi a little potty this weekend. We've been teaching her about pee pee and doo doo and flushing the toilet, which she loves to do, so we thought it would be a good next step to get her her own potty. On Sunday afternoon Desi kept saying doo doo, doo doo. I checked her diaper, but it was clean. Instead of holding her over the toilet seat, I brought the potty into the room and told her to sit on it and pee pee or doo doo if she wanted to. And viola! She pee pee'ed in the potty! And then she got to do her favorite thing and flush it down the toilet. After she flushes she says "bye-bye", closes the toilet lid, and then says YEAAAAAA!! and claps. Cute stuff! :)

ABC's and 123's
Desi has been a chatter box for a while now, but she's really made progress this month. She is now singing her ABC's and she can actually say most of the letters clearly. She has also started counting to 10. She mumbles 5, 6, 7, but ends with a solid 8, 9, 10, YEAAA! I have to get this stuff on video and figure out how to post it.
She continues to enhance her vocabulary daily. After learning Ice, Ice, Baby from Uncle Ray (Kristen's dad), she has moved on to TOUCHDOWN with both hands in the air for football season. I've got to hurry up and teach her Pumpkin and Santa before the seasons get away from me.
As far as names go, she knows everyone and is even saying Danielle, Colin, and Melissa clearly. But she refuses to say Kieran. She loves her inside joke with her Uncle Kieran, calling him Peata, Peata, Peata. It's too cute.
Desi just started Music Together classes last week and has already taken to the songs and hand movements. I'm looking forward to seeing her enjoy that time with Grandma Kay.

All Good Things Must Come To An End
It's with mixed feelings that I report that Desi and I are almost done weaning each other from breastfeeding. Desi's gone to bed almost every night for the past week and a half without breastfeeding. About half of those nights she's slept through the night.
It's been a great ride. All the ups and downs of motherhood all rolled up into one beautiful experience. The great part is that my little baby and I have a wonderful lifetime bond AND she's starting to sleep through the night!!! You know I have to find the silver lining in this one. :)

Evan and Sarah Price's Wedding
The wedding was held at a civil war era mansion in Bencia, California in the bay area. It was a beautiful day!
Trip to California - July 30 to August 5, 2009
We were lucky enough to be able to make a trip to California this year to attend Evan and Sarah's wedding. We stayed with Chris, Kelley, and Ryan Price in Sacramento for the first part of our trip. Ryan and Desi became close pals very quickly.
